The Green Monkey was born during a reading class at Jesuit Middle School in early September 2006.  During a lesson on sequence of events, Mr. Mansour asked the class to come up with some characters they could make up a story about to practice sequence of events.  A few minutes later, the Green Monkey and his nemesis, the Orange Tiger, were born.  The class soon developed a story line about how the Orange Tiger destroyed the Green Monkey’s village (probably by polluting it).  With a little help from the Ancient Master, the Green Monkey was able to clean up his village and clear out the Orange Tiger.

    GreenMonkeySchools.com is an extension of the Green Monkey idea.  In an effort to make our school more “green” the students read and researched about recycling and pollution.  They then began making the pages on this website.  The Green Monkey became our mascot for the project.  We hope to take our Green Monkey message to as many schools as possible.  With your help, we can make a big impact on the planet.

 

    The Green Monkey does much more than just recycle.  He has been involved in a number of adventures, which the 5th graders have writte about.  Click on the button below to read their stories.
